Cedar Brook Financial Partners Sponsors Second BBYO Teen Leadership Development Program
CLEVELAND, OH, December 2, 2013 – Spearheaded by Howard Slater, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, MSFS®, MBA, a founding principal of Cedar Brook Financial Partners LLC, one of the region’s largest independent wealth management firms, the second in a series of BBYO Leadership Training conferences took place November 8-10, 2013 at Camp Wise in Chardon, OH. BBYO is the leading, national pluralistic Jewish teen organization devoted to providing Jewish youth with creative learning opportunities to enhance their leadership skills.
In 2012, Cedar Brook granted $50,000 over five years to fund local leadership development through BBYO. Mr. Slater and twenty-five other community leaders served as the presenters and coaches throughout the weekend.
The objective of this year’s conference was to develop BBYO student officers’ leadership skills. One hundred and twelve teens from Akron, Canton, Toledo, Youngstown and Cleveland attended the event. The youth engaged in interactive skill building workshops on topics including communication & marketing, programming, relationship building, and philanthropy. “This year’s conference exceeded all of our expectations. In just a few short days, the passionate volunteer professionals who led the sessions successfully taught our teens life skills that they can apply to our organization as well as any other groups and businesses they’re part of,” said Todd Kay, Regional Director, BBYO, Ohio Northern Region. Zach Sable, BBYO Student Regional President, shared his enthusiasm for the weekend, "I appreciate having the opportunity to spend a weekend with my BBYO friends and at the same time, learn leadership skills that we can apply not only to BBYO but to jobs and life... big ideas are shared, creative planning is developed and growth strategies are applied when we come together to grow our movement."
